Breakfast at the hotel. Meet a local guide at 0815HRS in Piazza del Risorgimento and take a tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, skipping the lines. Admire the Gallery of Tapestries, the Geographical Maps and the beautiful Raphael’s rooms before arriving at the famous Sistine Chapel. The tour couldn’t be complete without St Peter’s Square, the open space which lies before the basilica, redesigned by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and being itself an architectural masterpiece of the Baroque age. You’ll admire St Peter’s Basilica (outside) that isn’t only the largest church in the world, but that contains several pieces of fine art, think the canopy designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini or the Pietà by Michelangelo. Lunch on your own and after lunch meet a guide at 1415HRS at Arch of Constantine for the most complete tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Access the Palatine Hill with no line and discover where Rome was founded at the beginning. Then reach the Colosseum and be amazed by the monument that is the symbol of Rome. The amphitheatre created to entertain ancient Roman citizens with bloody shows of gladiators, animals and cruel games, is now one of the most fascinating landmarks in the “Eternal City”. Then, walk on the original path of ancient Rome along the Via Sacra and see the Temples of Vesta, Antonino and Faustina, the ancient Basilica Julia & Aemilia and dream about the glorious past of the Roman Empire.
