Once a Yugoslav naval base, Vis remained off-limits to tourists for decades, preserving its authenticity – “the Mediterranean as it once was”.  The town of Vis, located on the island’s northern side, grew near the remains of ancient Issa, the first urban settlement in Croatia. We depart early for nearby Biševo Island, home of the mesmerising Blue Cave – a natural phenomenon best seen in the morning light. (Entrance fee to be paid on the spot, weather permitting.) In the afternoon, we arrive at Korčula Town, a medieval gem wrapped in stone walls and legend.
