Disclaimer
Due to specific mooring conditions and requirements in some Croatian Ports, multiple ships are moored side by side. This makes it necessary to cross from one ship to the other where there are gaps in between each ship. Special care must be taken at all times when crossing between the ships, and guests do this at their own risk. Crew assistance will be given to those needing and requesting it. View from cabin windows and balconies may be obstructed when moored in port and alongside other ships. Cruises are not recommended for those in wheelchairs or with limited mobility.
Itinerary changes
Cruise operator reserves the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organisational requirements. Sometimes the tour will be run in reverse order. The tours are dependent on weather conditions and the final decision is that of the captain.
Helmet Requirements
Helmets are mandatory on your bike tour. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as the rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required at time of booking).
Bicycle Level 4 / 5
Cycling tours through hilly to mountainous terrain with some steeper ascents of up to approximately 400 meters. Requires confident riding on winding descents, uneven asphalt, and occasionally gravel paths. Suitable for experienced cyclists accustomed to longer daily stages.
Distance: 20 - 44 km per day
Elevation: 200 - 700 meters of elevation per day
Road conditions: The roads are mostly asphalted, but very rough. There is no such thing as smooth asphalt in Turkey. On some stretches of road, you can expect to encounter chippings and small potholes. For this reason, our rental bikes are also equipped with thick tires and suspension to compensate for bumps.
Traffic: Traffic is to be expected within and around coastal towns. 95% of cycle tours lead through rural areas with very little to no traffic.
Infrastructure: There are no designated cycle paths in Turkey; cycling tours take place on public roads, preferably on quiet side roads.
Relevant for all levels: Safe cycling skills and familiarity with road traffic are prerequisites for taking part in our tours. All tours, including the elevation gains, can be mastered more easily with electronic assistance. Anyone renting an e-bike should already have experience and be confident in handling e-bikes, as these bikes are significantly heavier and faster than conventional bikes.
Individual cycling
This tour is primarily a guided group tour. Upon consultation with your tour guides, the possibility to cycle on your own along recommended, suitable routes, may present itself. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike tour.
Group Riding Pace
On most Bike & Boat cruises you can choose between a hybrid bike and an e-bike. However, the guided group pace is based on the speed of the hybrid bike cyclists. Those who rent an e-bike on a hybrid bike tour, are asked to show consideration for those who ride without electronic assistance. Hybrid bike cyclists need more breaks and more time to cycle the hills. We thank you for your understanding.
Children
We believe that only children in a good physical condition and previous bicycle tour experience and with a minimum age of 10 are able to master the cycle tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bicycles is 1.50m. When travelling with children, we recommend our Multi-Adventure Tours in Greece and Croatia which are specifically curated for families and offer family-friendly pricing.
