Korčula has a long tradition in seafaring, shipbuilding, and stonemasonry. It is the reputed birthplace of the famous world-traveller and writer, Marco Polo (1254 - 1324).

Top class wines are produced on the island, which is also known for its cakes, sweets, and summer festivities; where there may be an opportunity to view it’s traditional Moreška Sword Dance. Korčula Island is well connected from Split by ferry and catamaran services, and Dubrovnik by coach and ferry transfers. The closest airport is in Dubrovnik, approx 3 hours away.
