Oberammergau Passion Play 2022

Upon arrival to Vienna Airport/Train Station transfer to your hotel. Rest of day is free at leisure.

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet with your driving guide and local guide and start the day. On a morning sightseeing tour, walk past the Hofburg Palace, once the home of the Hapsburg emperors, and view the Belvedere Palace, Prater Amusement Park, the UN Buildings, St. Stephen's Cathedral and other reminders of the city's imperial past. The afternoon is at leisure to discover more of Vienna at your own pace. (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you travel south, towards Slovenia. On the way stop in Graz, Austria’s second largest city. Famous for one of the best-preserved city centres in Central Europe and as a former European Capital of Culture it is a must see city when travelling this route. We drive through the Strirya wine country before reaching Maribor. We get to see the world’s oldest wine during a short orientation tour and finish the day in Ljubljana. (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. During the walking tour of the city you will see the most significant sights of the old city centre. Highlights include the picturesque open-air Central Market, the Three Bridges, Baroque Town Hall, and Robba's Fountain. Remainder of the day is free to explore the vibrant city on your own. (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. It is time to head north. First, you will stop in Bled. An Alpine lake surrounded by high peaks, Bled was “discovered” by travellers in the middle of the 19th century. Since then, a small town of hotels, villas, and restaurants has developed around the lake, turning Bled into a lively, all-seasons resort. A sightseeing tour features the charming town and the lakeshore and visit imposing Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. The balance of the day is at leisure. (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. The name Salzburg means 'salt fortress'. For thousands of years, salt has been mined from the area around Salzburg. This 'white gold' made Salzburg a powerful trading city. Today, it's a famous for its baroque architecture, the perfect blend of history and culture, it's home to Mozart, an ancient fortress, and several Sound of Music sites, all of which you will explore with your guide during todays' sightseeing tour. Afternoon is free to explore the city on your own. (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. Another highlight of the tour awaits today. We head towards Oberammergau, a small village that became famous not only for the Passion Plays performances held every ten years but also for its woodcarvers and woodcarvings as well as the "Lüftlmalerei," or frescoes, of traditional Bavarian themes, like fairy tales, religious scenes or architectural trompe-l'oeil found on many homes and buildings. The driving guide will drop you off at your accommodation in the area and leave you to explore on your own. Dinner and overnight in Oberammergau Area. (B, D)
