Day by day Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Your afternoon is at leisure before meeting your Host and Tour Director at 1900HRS. Overnight and dinner at the hotel. (D)

Day 2
Zagreb - Varaždin - Zagreb

Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a sightseeing tour with a local guide. The tour will take you along historic parts of the city, including Ban Jelačić Square and medieval settlements of Gradec and Kaptol. See the Cathedral, Dolac Market, Tkalčićeva Street, Stone Gate and St Mark’s Church. Proceed through the castle region to Varaždin. Afterwards, enjoy dinner in an authentic restaurant in Zagorje region, before returning to Zagreb for overnight. (B, SD)

Day 3
Zagreb - Ljubljana or Kranj

After breakfast at the hotel, depart to Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana. On arrival, visit with a local guide. The capital city of Slovenia lies in a basin between the Karst and the Alpine region. This city with a soul features the Baroque Old Town nestled at the foot of Castle Hill, the Art Nouveau mansions and masterpieces of the renowned architect Jože Plečnik. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Ljubljana or Kranj (June departure). (B, D)

Day 4
Ljubljana or Kranj - Bled - Bohinj - Ljubljana or Kranj

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit of Bled and Bohinj with a local guide. Entrance to Bled Old Town and Pletna boat ride included. Lake Bled ranks among the most beautiful alpine resorts. This pearl of Slovenia offers amazing views, with a tiny island and St Mary’s Church in the middle of the lake and an old medieval castle up on the cliff. After lunch, continue to Bohinj. The glacial Lake Bohinj is one of the most beautiful Alpine lakes in Slovenia. Part of the Triglav National Park, it impresses with a serene natural beauty. The rest of your afternnon is at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Ljubljana or Kranj (June departure). (B, SL, D)

Day 5
Ljubljana or Kranj - Postojna - Momjan - Poreč

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart from Ljubljana or Kranj (June departure) to Postojna and visit Postojna Cave, the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world’s largest karst monuments. Enjoy an adventurous ride on a special electric train. Journey into the cave, under spectacular underground arches embellished with chandelier-like stalactites and discover a beautiful subterranean world of limestone sculptures. We then proceed to Istria Peninsula and the small town of Momjan where we visit a local winery for a tasting of the famous local wines. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Poreč. (B, T, D)

Day 6
Poreč - Rovinj - Pula - Vodnjan - Poreč

After breakfast, our Istria Excursion begins with a guided tour of Poreč, home to the Euphrasian Basilica. The beautiful town has preserved the original Roman street layout, the main streets of Cardo and Decumanus. Continue to the picturesque seaside town of Rovinj for a guided tour of one of the most romantic towns on the Mediterranean, with cobbled streets, picturesque buildings and squares to take your breath away. Our lunch experience today is at an authentic restaurant in Rovinj. Relax and enjoy the local atmosphere before continuing to Pula where your tour includes a visit to the Roman Amphitheatre, the Temple of Augustus and the Arch of Sergii. Explore Kaštel, a castle from the 17th century and the Istrian History Museum. Istria has a long tradition in olive oil making and we get a taste of this on our visit to Vodnjan where we sample the local olive oil. Later return to our hotel in Poreč for dinner and overnight. Day 7
Poreč - Motovun - Livade - Poreč

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we are free to explore Poreč at our leisure before we take a trip into the heart of Istria, to Motovun with a visit of the town and truffle tasting lunch in nearby Livade. Motovun is possibly the most picturesque medieval town of inner Istria. The small town of rich cultural and historical heritage is situated on a hill above the Mirna River Valley. We return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, T, D)

Day 8
Poreč - Venice - Poreč

We take a day trip to Venice. A walking tour will show you the highlights, including St Mark’s Square, St Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, Bell Tower and Bridge of Sighs. Visit a glass blowing factory and watch a master artisan demonstrate this traditional Venetian art. This afternoon is at leisure to enjoy Venice, browse through shops, or take an optional gondola ride. Late afternoon return to Poreč for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Day 9
Poreč - Pazin - Opatija

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Pazin for a short walk with your Host and Tour Director, including visit to the Pazin Castle. Lunch in an authentic local restaurant in the nearby small village of Beram. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Opatija. (B, SL, D)

Day 10
Opatija - Plitvice Lakes

Breakfast at the hotel and visit of Opatija with our local guide. With its beautiful Lungomare promenade, this little town has the largest number of hotels in relation to population and enjoys a year-round season. Enjoy free time before departing to the Plitvice Lakes region for dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B, D)

Day 11
Plitvice Lakes - Zadar

After breakfast at the hotel, we visit the National Park with a local guide. Plitvice Lakes are Croatia’s most popular tourist attraction. The beauty lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. Afterwards, proceed to Zadar for dinner and overnight at your hotel. (B, D)

Day 12
Zadar - Pag - Nin - Zadar

Breakfast at the hotel and sightseeing of Zadar, one of the oldest ancient Dalmatian cities. Its rich heritage includes the Roman Forum, St Donatus Church, the reconstructed Romanesque St Grisigono’s Church, St Mary’s Bell Tower and St Anastasia’s Cathedral. Visit the famous Sea Organs and enjoy the sound of waves and wind that the sea organs bring to life. Later we visit the Island of Pag for a tasting of the famous Pag cheese and on return, make a stop at the island town of Nin, where the smallest cathedral in the world is located. Return to Zadar for dinner and overnight. (B, T, D)

Day 13
Zadar - Šibenik - Trogir - Split

After breakfast we leave Zadar, travelling along the Adriatic Coast where we make our first stop in Šibenik. Here we have free time to see St James Cathedral and explore the oldest Croatian city on the Adriatic. Continue to the medieval island town of Trogir with free time for lunch before continuing to Split. This evening enjoy a walk on the Split Riva following our Dalmatian dinner experience. Overnight in Split. (B, SD)

Day 14

Following breakfast check-out from the hotel. Its time to say farewell to your fellow travellers. For those of you who are continuing on our Hosted Cruise, you will be met and transferred to Split Port for the next step of our journey. For those of your returning home, or travelling onwards you will be transferred to Split Airport. We are sure you will have made many friends and have a wealth of memories to treasure and take home with you. Sretan Put. (B)
