Day by day Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Your afternoon is at leisure before meeting your Host and Tour Director at 1900HRS. Overnight and dinner at the hotel. (D)

Day 2
Zagreb - Varaždin - Zagreb

Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a sightseeing tour with a local guide. The tour will take you along historic parts of the city, including Ban Jelačić Square and medieval settlements of Gradec and Kaptol. See the Cathedral, Dolac Market, Tkalčićeva Street, Stone Gate and St Mark’s Church. Proceed through the castle region to Varaždin. Afterwards, enjoy dinner in an authentic restaurant in Zagorje region, before returning to Zagreb for overnight. (B, SD)

Day 3
Zagreb - Ljubljana or Kranj

After breakfast at the hotel, depart to Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana. On arrival, visit with a local guide. The capital city of Slovenia lies in a basin between the Karst and the Alpine region. This city with a soul features the Baroque Old Town nestled at the foot of Castle Hill, the Art Nouveau mansions and masterpieces of the renowned architect Jože Plečnik. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Ljubljana or Kranj (June departure). (B, D)

Day 4
Ljubljana or Kranj - Bled - Bohinj - Ljubljana or Kranj

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit of Bled and Bohinj with a local guide. Entrance to Bled Old Town and Pletna boat ride included. Lake Bled ranks among the most beautiful alpine resorts. This pearl of Slovenia offers amazing views, with a tiny island and St Mary’s Church in the middle of the lake and an old medieval castle up on the cliff. After lunch, continue to Bohinj. The glacial Lake Bohinj is one of the most beautiful Alpine lakes in Slovenia. Part of the Triglav National Park, it impresses with a serene natural beauty. The rest of your afternnon is at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Ljubljana or Kranj (June departure). (B, SL, D)

Day 5
Ljubljana or Kranj - Postojna - Momjan - Poreč

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart from Ljubljana or Kranj (June departure) to Postojna and visit Postojna Cave, the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world’s largest karst monuments. Enjoy an adventurous ride on a special electric train. Journey into the cave, under spectacular underground arches embellished with chandelier-like stalactites and discover a beautiful subterranean world of limestone sculptures. We then proceed to Istria Peninsula and the small town of Momjan where we visit a local winery for a tasting of the famous local wines. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Poreč. (B, T, D)

Day 6
Poreč - Rovinj - Pula - Vodnjan - Poreč

After breakfast, our Istria Excursion begins with a guided tour of Poreč, home to the Euphrasian Basilica. The beautiful town has preserved the original Roman street layout, the main streets of Cardo and Decumanus. Continue to the picturesque seaside town of Rovinj for a guided tour of one of the most romantic towns on the Mediterranean, with cobbled streets, picturesque buildings and squares to take your breath away. Our lunch experience today is at an authentic restaurant in Rovinj. Relax and enjoy the local atmosphere before continuing to Pula where your tour includes a visit to the Roman Amphitheatre, the Temple of Augustus and the Arch of Sergii. Explore Kaštel, a castle from the 17th century and the Istrian History Museum. Istria has a long tradition in olive oil making and we get a taste of this on our visit to Vodnjan where we sample the local olive oil. Later return to our hotel in Poreč for dinner and overnight. Day 7
Poreč - Motovun - Livade - Poreč

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we are free to explore Poreč at our leisure before we take a trip into the heart of Istria, to Motovun with a visit of the town and truffle tasting lunch in nearby Livade. Motovun is possibly the most picturesque medieval town of inner Istria. The small town of rich cultural and historical heritage is situated on a hill above the Mirna River Valley. We return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, T, D)

Day 8
Poreč - Venice - Poreč

We take a day trip to Venice. A walking tour will show you the highlights, including St Mark’s Square, St Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, Bell Tower and Bridge of Sighs. Visit a glass blowing factory and watch a master artisan demonstrate this traditional Venetian art. This afternoon is at leisure to enjoy Venice, browse through shops, or take an optional gondola ride. Late afternoon return to Poreč for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Day 9
Poreč - Pazin - Opatija

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Pazin for a short walk with your Host and Tour Director, including visit to the Pazin Castle. Lunch in an authentic local restaurant in the nearby small village of Beram. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Opatija. (B, SL, D)

Day 10
Opatija - Plitvice Lakes

Breakfast at the hotel and visit of Opatija with our local guide. With its beautiful Lungomare promenade, this little town has the largest number of hotels in relation to population and enjoys a year-round season. Enjoy free time before departing to the Plitvice Lakes region for dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B, D)

Day 11
Plitvice Lakes - Zadar

After breakfast at the hotel, we visit the National Park with a local guide. Plitvice Lakes are Croatia’s most popular tourist attraction. The beauty lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. Afterwards, proceed to Zadar for dinner and overnight at your hotel. (B, D)

Day 12
Zadar - Pag - Nin - Zadar

Breakfast at the hotel and sightseeing of Zadar, one of the oldest ancient Dalmatian cities. Its rich heritage includes the Roman Forum, St Donatus Church, the reconstructed Romanesque St Grisigono’s Church, St Mary’s Bell Tower and St Anastasia’s Cathedral. Visit the famous Sea Organs and enjoy the sound of waves and wind that the sea organs bring to life. Later we visit the Island of Pag for a tasting of the famous Pag cheese and on return, make a stop at the island town of Nin, where the smallest cathedral in the world is located. Return to Zadar for dinner and overnight. (B, T, D)

Day 13
Zadar - Šibenik - Trogir - Split

After breakfast we leave Zadar, travelling along the Adriatic Coast where we make our first stop in Šibenik. Here we have free time to see St James Cathedral and explore the oldest Croatian city on the Adriatic. Continue to the medieval island town of Trogir with free time for lunch before continuing to Split. This evening enjoy a walk on the Split Riva following our Dalmatian dinner experience. Overnight in Split. (B, SD)

Day 14

Following breakfast our coach takes us to Split Port to join our cruise. If you are not continuing on the cruise you will be transferred to Split Airport for your onward travel. Cruise boarding begins from 1300HRS. After checking you will have some free time to discover this beautiful city and later meet with our Cruise Director for a Welcome Dinner onboard the Deluxe Small Ship Mama Marija. Overnight is onboard in the Port of Split. (B, D)

Day 15
Split - Trogir

After breakfast we enjoy a walking tour of the historical Diocletian Palace and then cruise to our next destination with lunch onboard a swim stop before arriving to the famous open-air museum town of Trogir for a guided tour with a visit to the Cathedral of St Lawrence. The rest of our day is at leisure. Overnight onboard in Trogir. (B, L)

Day 16
Trogir - Bol - Hvar

We begin with a morning departure towards Bol on the island of Brač, said to have the best beach for swimming in Croatia, Zlatni Rat. Stop in Bol for a walk, enjoy coffee or swim until lunch is served onboard. After lunch, continue cruising towards the Island of Hvar, Croatia’s sunniest island, passing by coves and bays along the way. On your afternoon arrival, a local guide will walk you through the town, introducing you to the history, culture and way of life. We will join a short lavender presentation, where you can learn how it was traditionally farmed on Hvar Island for centuries. Evening is free to explore and dine in one of the numerous family owned restaurants. Overnight onboard in Hvar. (B, L)

Day 17
Hvar - Biševo - Vis

This morning we cruise to the Blue Cave on Biševo Island. The entrance is below sea level and is a natural phenomenon, creating a magical play of colours. If the trip is not permitted due to weather conditions, we will partake in a half day tour of Vis Island. During its time as a military zone, Vis was untouched by tourism. Today locals and visitors can experience beautiful beaches and pristine nature. Overnight onboard in Vis. (B, L)

Day 18
Vis - Korčula

After breakfast, we will continue our cruise to Korčula Island stopping for a swim before lunch. In the afternoon, arrive into Korčula Town, known as the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. Upon arrival, our guide will lead us through the narrow and cobbled streets of Korčula on a short walking tour. The rest of the evening is free to enjoy dining at one of the local restaurants of your choice. Overnight onboard in Korčula. (B, L)

Day 19
Korčula - Mljet - Šipan or Slano

This morning we continue our journey to Mljet where there is time to explore the Great and Small Lakes, Islet of St Mary with its Benedictine Monastery dating back to the 12th century, and to swim in the heart of the National Park. Return to your ship for lunch before departing to the Elaphiti Island of Šipan. We drop anchor in a small, picturesque fishermen’s village of Šipanska Luka or, in case dock schedules or weather conditions prevent us from anchoring, we will cruise to the mainland village of Slano. Tonight we are treated to a Captain’s Dinner with live entertainment. Overnight onboard in Šipanska Luka or Slano. (B, L, D)

Day 20
Šipan or Slano - Dubrovnik

Pass by the Elaphiti Islands on our morning cruise to the Pearl of the Adriatic. Cruise along side the Dubrovnik City Walls and have lunch onboard, in front of the historical centre. This is a great place for photo opportunities of the spectacular fortified walls. We will be met by our guide who will take you on a walking tour of Dubrovnik Old Town. There will be free time to explore the city, walk the City Walls or take a cable car to the top of the Mount Srđ and enjoy the views of the Adriatic sea and Dubrovnik Riviera. There will be scheduled transfers to the ship by tender boats or a coach. Our Captain will do his best to remain on anchorage in front of the Old Town this evening with tender boat transfers to the town and back. In case of weather or other conditions, we may have to overnight at an alternative location in Dubrovnik’s Gruž Port. Overnight onboard in Dubrovnik. (B, L)

Day 21

Following breakfast check-out is at 0900HRS. Its time to say farewell to your crew and fellow travellers. For those of you who are continuing on our Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina Extension, you will be met and transferred to your local hotel for the next step of our journey. For those of your returning home, or travelling onwards you will be transferred to Dubrovnik Airport. We are sure you will have made many friends and have

Important Notes

Cruise Information
Main Deck Cabins are on the Main Deck. Lower Deck Cabins are below Main Deck Cabins and in the hull of the ship. Most port arrivals are in late afternoon. Cruising time is approximately 4 - 5 hours a day. Guests are obliged to follow ship rules. Due to specific mooring conditions and requirements in some Croatian Ports, ships are moored side by side. This makes it necessary to cross from one ship to the other where there are gaps in between each ship. Special care must be taken at all times when crossing between the vessels and guests do this at their own risk. Crew assistance will be given to those needing and requesting it. Cruises are not recommended for those in wheelchairs or with limited mobility.
